Lincoln Park Zoo Cafe Goes Organic

Cafe at Wild ThingsI would like to see this happen at more cafes. I would be all for my local zoo going organic.

From Chicago Sun-Times:

This weekend, the zoo debuts a special cafe that serves only organic, sustainable or locally grown eatables. Even forks, spoons, knives and cups are made of biodegradable, cornstarch-based plastics.

The article says that this is the start of a five-year greening plan to “reduce the zoo’s ‘negative environmental impact.’” The cafe serves tomato, basil and mozzarella paninis, which has my interest! Those things are amazing and I would absolutely love to try the organic version. Anyone in Chicago want to pick me up one? Get me some of that organic potato salad, while you’re there :) Cafe at Wild Things website can be viewed here.

  1. This is a great trend. I would like to see an entire city go organic. Some cities have banned trans-fats. Going organic is the next step. Perhaps the battle is one restaurant at a time.

  2. Paul, do you think there might be a city that already is all organic? That would be interesting to find out.

  3. I think that zoos should do more to help out the environment
