Eco-Friendly Friday Tips 91 – Fabric Softener
April 30th’s Tip
Fabric Softener: Standard fabric softener can be loaded with chemicals. Fabric softener sheets are the same, and they can leave a film on your clothes, making the colors appear dull.
Instead of standard softeners, consider using vinegar. Pour a cup of vinegar in your washing machine when you run a load, and you won’t need anything in your dryer. Your clothes will come out soft, and the vinegar will help keep them fresh, as well. And no, they won’t smell like a salad!

Haha good thing the clothes won’t smell like food, or flies will be constantly buzzing you. The smell was my concernReally, thanks for the tip. Someone already told me the vinegar alternative, he didn’t know if the smell of the clothes is going to be bad.
I can suggest the following tip on your way to going green: try to use milled coffee instead of manufactured exfoliant while you are in sauna – it is much more natural and healthier for your skin!
I have another tip for going green: instead of using a manufactured exfoliant once a week for your face you should try using some corn flour for this procedure. And about your advice regarding fabric softener, I am definitely going to try it.
Really vinegar?…never though of it as a softener, but I do use it to clean my bathroom.
p.s. jenny, another good scrub is coffee with a little honey or sea salt
Great Article! :) Thanks.
I would never think vinegar would have that effect on laundry, but I will give it a try on my next load. I switched over to an eco-friendly detergent, but am finishing off my old dryer sheets. Maybe I won’t need to buy any more :)
