Coombs Family Farms Maple Syrup

I’m a true (displaced) New Englander. I love everything New England (excluding seafood) – smells, sights, sounds, tastes, you name it. Pure maple syrup is one of those New England flavors that just can’t be replicated exactly anywhere except for in New England itself, which is where Coombs Family Farms is (Vermont, home of the best maple syrup, to be exact!). The maple syrup from Coombs Family Farms is USDA Organic and their harvesting methods are kind to the environment, as well.
Pure maple has been a way of life at Coombs Family Farms for seven generations. Coombs Family Farms has produced 100% pure maple since 1840. Since 1988, Coombs Family Farms has produced certified organic maple syrup. A champion of small family farming, Coombs Family Farms also sources 100% pure organic certified maple from other small, independent farmers who share the Coombs commitment to quality, environmental stewardship, and sustainable forestry management.
Getting to try Coombs Family Farms maple syrup was a treat, to say the least. I don’t generally eat anything that requires syrup because the kind that is generally sold in stores is thick and sugary, so I was excited about this maple syrup. For anyone who’s never had pure maple syrup, it may come to a surprise that it’s not as sweet as the standard pancake syrup. Don’t let that discourage you… it’s full of flavor, and the flavor is amazing (ridiculously amazing, I say).
The first time I tried Coombs Family Farms syrup, I was sidetracked after my waffle was done, and it got cold. I decided to eat it anyway, and even on a cold waffle the syrup floored me. It tasted like being back in New England.
I was also sent a little maple candy man, which I only got one bite of before Andrew tried it and snatched it from me. That was my first experience with real maple candy, and Maple Man’s head tasted great (which explains why Andrew stole Maple Man’s body!).
So I definitely (and highly) recommend Coombs Family Farms maple syrup for anyone who thinks they already know a good maple syrup, you’re going to be happily surprised.

Great that u follow this.. i want to ask u one thing.. Maple syrup is something new to many of us.. why have you not written its health benefits?
I whole-heartedly agree that it is sooo much better to use a sweetner such as this with a real flavor instead of some horrendous processed corn fructose, refined sugar or other artificial sweetners. I bet it does have some health benefits but don’t overuse, a little bit is very nice. I haven’t tried this one yet, I would like to, but I have tried a few homegrown Connecticut varieties that were delicious.
Not so much a sweetner as a natural ingredient, this is the uside of maple syrup. And it’s gorgeous.
Yum yum, maple syrup and pancakes are amongst my top favorite breakfast! It would be even better, if the maple syrup is in available in low sugar packaging!
Stefani,
Thank you again for posting this great review of our maple products. To address some of the comments – Yes, pure maple syrup does have some health benefits. Pure maple syrup contains minerals manganese, riboflavin, zinc and magnesium. Because it does not contain artificial flavors, preservatives or thickeners it also makes a great all-natural sweetener as a substitute to refined or cane sugar.
